Klaus was at Mask or Menace for about 8 months, and in that time he's: had a relapse, gotten (mostly) sober, tried and failed to conquer his fear of ghosts, and tried and failed to summon Dave.
Right now he's on fairly even ground, although he's recently slipped into a depressive state after the failure of summoning Dave.
HISTORY: Here and Here
PERSONALITY/FIT: Klaus Hargreeves is the 4th of Sir Reginald Hargreeves's seven adopted children. Like all of his "siblings", he didn't exactly have the easiest childhood. Treated like a science experiment and weapon from birth, he has had difficulty dealing with the traumas of his childhood that quite literally haunt him to this day.
Trauma is, unfortunately, the keystone of Klaus's being. When Klaus was a child, he would often be thrown into cold, dark crypts for hours at a time to confront his fear of the dead. Those experiences have left him in a constant cycle of self-destruction and drug abuse in order to numb himself to his abilities and be unable to see the dead. Unfortunately, his addiction is nearly all-consuming, and it causes people around him to doubt him, his sobriety, and even his motives more often than not.
After time-travelling back to the Vietnam War, Klaus's fears and phobias were compounded with all the bloodshed and fighting he saw there- up to and including losing the love of his life, who died in his arms. Being freshly removed from the battlefield, he seems to exhibit some symptoms of PTSD, resulting in flashbacks that can leave him paralyzed.
What Klaus lacks in stability, however, he makes up for with charm. Wielding a wicked sense of humor, Klaus tends to make his way through life with enough wits and witticisms to navigate the world. Relying on his innate talents, he tends to charm his way out of whatever problems he's gotten himself into. That, or make them decide that he's not worth their time by acting like a madman.
Whether it's cracking inappropriate jokes at hired thugs attempting to torture him for information or managing to sneak out of a room with a pearl inlay box down the back of his trousers with nothing but glib comments, he's certain to talk his way out of a situation.
Despite Klaus's inability to form long-lasting relationships, he certainly demonstrates a copious amount of empathy. Specifically, once he overcomes his fear of his powers, he's quite gentle with the spirits he speaks to. Asking them questions about how they died, what he can do to help, and even passing on messages. That empathy extends to his siblings, who he regularly attempts to listen to and talk through their feelings and complications with.
Recently- that is to say, within the last two days- Klaus has made an attempt to become sober in order to access his powers. With his powers currently beginning to expand to include manifestation of spirits, he is at a point where he is terrified of what he can potentially do. This terror and awe is more than enough to drive him back into his cycle of addiction, but it is his dedication to his family- to his brother, Ben, specifically- that keep him sober and attempting to access his powers.
Besides, they might just be needed to help save the world.
POWERS:
The Seance: Klaus can act as a medium in regards to ghosts. Specifically, this power has three subset abilities: conjuring, channeling, and manifesting. Klaus can either conjure the spirit of someone dead, channel them and let them use his body for a limited time, or manifest them into a physical form for a limited time.
Psychic Wonder
Klaus's newfound abilities in Mask or Menace mean that he has enhanced psychic abilities under three specific subsets: Telepathy, Telekinesis, and Psychic Possession.
Telepathy: Klaus can hear the thoughts of those around him in a 10 yard radius. This ability will at first be uncontrollable and unfiltered, which will be just as overwhelming to him as his Seance ability. With practice, he will be able to selectively focus on who he wants to hear within that radius- and enter his own voice and images into their minds.
Telekenesis: Klaus will be able to lift and move objects of up to 250 lbs for a limited duration. With training, he can increase the weight he can move and the amount of time he can move it.
Psychic Possession: For a limited time, 10 minutes maximum, Klaus will be able to 'possess' a host of his choosing and pilot their bodies. This ability will not work on people with strong wills, or on fellow psychics and those who possess psychic shielding. It can also be interrupted by disturbing Klaus's body, which will be physically vulnerable and unguarded while he controls someone.
